CONTESTANT #1

BLAKE GRIFFITHS

"I'm a 6ft 2, bald and cuddly bearded bear. I consider myself as the friendly type that's always up for a Gin & Tonic, cheeky dance floor pash and a general night out with friends or night in with Netflix or Nintendo."

CHARITY - CANCER COUNCIL

"I support this charity because they do it all... research, education, prevention and support programs. As someone that's lost family to cancer and had way too many sunburns, I am fully aware that this charity can have a huge impact."

CONTESTANT #2

TERRY MEURS

"I'm 43 single gay guy, down to earth, easy to get along with.  The reason I want to enter Mr Harbour City Bear is it's been on my bucket list for a while "

CHARITY - CANCER FOUNDATION

CONTESTANT #3

ABE SPENCE - COWELL

"I am just your regularly furry type of guy! When I went to my first Friday night bears almost 10yrs ago, I didn't have much confidence and didn't like the hairy body that I had but the bear community has really helped me to love myself and to be proud to be hairy and bigger and I would love to have the opportunity to represent the community that have helped me so much."

CHARITY - RESCUE HUB - SYDNEY DOG RESCUE

"As they do great working in saving dogs on death row and I believe this to be a noble endeavor."

CONTESTANT #4

TEVIN PRICE

"I am a loveable kind of guy who has been able to make friends rather easily. I strive to be the best I can be in any situation. I always take the good with the bad as we all should as it what makes life interesting. Also as a former committee member I also know quite a bit about Harbour City Bears and the Bear Community in general."

CONTESTANT #5

LUKE WALTER

"Hi there! I’m Luke, I’m 28 and I’m your favourite giant 6'6" leather-clad teddy bear! Im cheeky, witty, flirty, and love a big night out dancing as much as a nerdy board game night at home. It would be fantastic to be the next Mr Harbour City Bear as I cannot express how much the bears have done for me in terms of gaining self-confidence and in facilitating what I know will be lifelong friendships. It would be such an honour to be able to give a little something back to my fellow bears and to be given this platform to positively represent our community!"

CHARITY - MS Plus

"They provide information, advice and support services for people living with MS and other neurological conditions. My mum has been living with MS for over 30 years now and I have seen firsthand how debilitating and life-altering the disease can be. I also know how grateful my mum has been when she has had access to support and resources that aid with her daily quality of life (being provided with a mobility scooter and electric bed etc). As such, I’d love to be able to help raise funds for MS Plus to assist other families who are going through a similar experience as mine."

The contestants spend some time with current Mr Harbour City Bear 2019 (3 years due to covid) at the Oxford Hotel in preparation for Friday night's contest.
